DeVaughn entered the FAME program as a 9th grader during the 2010-2011 school year. DeVaughn has a true passion, and gift, for theater. This past year, DeVaughn directed, starred, and co-wrote an original musical called “Reign.” In the spring, DeVaughn won 1st place in Regional August Wilson Monologue Competition and placed 3rd in Nationals for his excerpt from “Radio Golf” in which Sterling Johnson questions the authenticity of his opposite, Roosevelt Hicks. This summer, DeVaughn delivered his monologue as a part of the “August in August” series at the August Wilson Center for African American Culture. This three night program features samples from all 10 plays of August Wilson’s Pittsburgh Cycle. DeVaughn joined a cast that included professionals from Pittsburgh as well as Broadway.
