FAME recently introduced an all-boys school into its consortium and increased its enrollment of boys by 50% since the 2009-2010 academic year. This was a strategic effort on behalf of FAME in order to address the need for African American boys to gain better access to excellent academic institutions.

FAME Scholars come from 25 different communities in the Pittsburgh region. The variety of these communities lends itself to the diversity of each of FAME's partner schools and their respective student bodies.

FAME currently provides scholarship assistance to 65 African American students to attend one of six participating independent schools. FAME scholarships are typically available to students grades 4-12 but exceptions are made in unique situations involving siblings of current FAME Scholars.
It is a goal of FAME to have an equal number of Scholars at each school. Over the years, the totals have been nearing equality and will continue to do so in the future.

FAME Scholars come from 11 different school districts in the Pittsburgh region. Most students come to FAME through the public school system; however, some students join us after graduation from area charter schools.
