SAT Preparation Courses
FAME offers a highly financially subsidized SAT Prep Course facilitated by The Princeton Review to all African American students, grades 9-12, attending participating independent schools. The ten-week SAT Essentials course offers atotal of 34 hours of class time which includes three, full-length proctored SAT exams; 22 hours of instruction; a review of academic content, and covers important testing techniques and strategies to maximize performance on the SAT.
In addition to SAT Prep instruction, a 90-minute Roadmap to College interactive seminar is offered to dispel the myths and reveal the secrets of getting accepted in America's best colleges and covers topics such as: Financial Aid, College Admissions; Understanding GPAs; When and How to Apply to College; SAT Subject Test and Test-Taking Strategies; Graduation and Attendance Requirements; Essays, Recommendations and Interviews; and Demystifying the Post-Secondary Experience for First-Generation Families. This seminar is offered free of charge and college counselors from all participating schools are invited to speak with students about their unique circumstances.
