Leadership Symposiums
Three Leadership Symposiums are held each year to provide students with the opportunity to build leadership skills and broaden their career and personal awareness. Students also receive advice and mentoring from young African American professionals during the Leadership Symposium series that have proven to be quite inspirational. FAME's Leadership Symposiumseries helps to prepare scholars for life after graduation and fulfills FAME's vision of increasing the number of scholars who return to live and take on leadership positions in Pittsburgh upon graduation from college. The Leadership Symposium Series' goals are to:
- Help scholars to develop leadership skills
- Expose scholars to a broad cross-section of corporate careers
- Prepare scholars for internship opportunities
- Build relationships between scholars and leadership at area corporations
- Increase scholars awareness of the number of opportunities for leadership and advancement in their home town
FAME has worked with numerous corporations to facilitate its Leadership Symposium series including PNC Bank, UPMC, Highmark, H.J. Heinz Company, Alcoa Inc., Giant Eagle, Pittsburgh Tissue and Engineering Initiative, ALCOSAN and Merrill Lynch.
