Informational Fair
FAME hosts an Information Fair at the Kingsley Center in East Liberty each year to address the lack of awareness in the African American community of the funds available to attend independent schools. Each informational fair is highly publicized and designed to provide African American families with an opportunity to learn more about independent school education in a comfortable, non-threatening environment. The Fairs inform potential students and their families of scholarship opportunities available at independent schools, through FAME, and directly from the school itself. This has proved to be an excellent resource for the schools to connect with African American families and has provided information to a large number of individuals in struggling communities. The overwhelming response to each informational fair demonstrates the strong parental desire within communities of color for schools that offer high quality education. These informational fairs increase the pool of African American candidates eligible for independent school admission.
Admissions directors from all of FAME's six partner schools are present at the information fair and serve on a panel to present a variety of topics about the independent school admissions process and experience.
