Nichelle Nelson
“FAME fosters educational achievement in some of the Pittsburgh region’s most gifted youth. Therefore, their success becomes the community’s success. It is a joy to work for an organization that makes such an impactful difference in the lives of individuals and the community.”
Nichelle Nelson joins the FAME team with over 15 years experience in the non-profit sector. Seeking to improve the lives of individuals and our communities, Nichelle pursued a degree in Psychology. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Delaware she relocated to Pittsburgh to complete graduate coursework. In 2005 she graduated with dual masters degrees in Social Work and Divinity from the University of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. Nichelle began her post-graduate school non-profit career as a fundraiser and development officer with KidsVoice. While at KidsVoice she helped to develop a multi-level signature event (Kites for Kids and Kitetails and Cocktails) and secured funding to support the agency’s nationally recognized team model for child advocacy. Outside of her secular career, Nichelle is also an ordained minister at Mount Ararat Baptist Church. She has dedicated her life, gifts and talents to preaching, teaching and serving. In her role as Program and Activities Coordinator with FAME, Nichelle will direct her efforts toward closing the education gap in the Pittsburgh community and helping our scholars realize their full potential.
