Mercedes Biggs

“I am very excited to be a part of FAME because I am inspired by the work that it does to improve our community.  I believe that being at FAME will help prepare me for the very important work of closing the achievement gaps that exist both within Pittsburgh, and within the nation.”

Mercedes Biggs is one of FAME’s newly hired interns.  She is currently a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University’s Heinz College where she studies Public Policy and Management.  Prior to starting graduate school, Mercedes worked in the consulting field for various national and international clients.  Mercedes began her consulting work soon after she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Morgan State University.

In addition to working at FAME, Mercedes has also interned at Pittsburgh Public Schools within the Office of Teacher Effectiveness, and for Education Pioneers within the San Francisco Unified School District’s Special Education department.  Mercedes is excited to apply and expand the skills that she has acquired at Heinz College within her internship at FAME. When she is not busy studying, Mercedes enjoys working out and spends the bulk of her time preparing for her upcoming wedding, which will occur in the summer of 2012.
